Think that an iMac Retina 5K display is impressive (and expensive)? It looks like Apple has got something even more exiting in stored for this year. LG Display seems to have accidentally unveiled an iMac 8K in its press release.
In a press release talking about the “next-generation of high-resolution 8K”, LG talks about its partnership with other companies including Apple. The release then goes on to say that “Apple has also announced that they will release the “iMac 8K” with super-high resolution display later this year”.
There’s no denying that 8K displays will become a thing in the future, but will the Cupertino company take up such an advanced technology so fast, overshadowing its 6 months old iMac 5K? At the launch of iMac 5K, Apple says that it is “the world’s highest resolution display”, with 67% more pixels than a 4K display, so just try to imagine how amazing a 27” 8K display could be.
Sadly though, the press release has been removed from LG Newsroom. 9to5Mac notes that there could be some errors at LG Display because Apple has not announced an iMac 8K and has never indicated that there’ll be one coming this year. It could be a product in the future, but it is unlikely that Apple will release an iMac with 8K display so soon.
