Illegear has just refreshed its Z5 gaming laptop with several notable hardware upgrade, including a faster Intel Core i7 processor and two choices of graphics card: the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M or 970M. With a starting price of RM4,199, the Illegear Z5 is one interesting gaming laptop.
The refreshed Illegear Z5 now has an Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6GHz quad-core processor and can be configured with either a GTX 960M or 970M, which is quite an upgrade from the predecessor’s GTX 860M mobile graphics card. It also has an Intel Wireless-AC 7260 under its hood, which should theoretically provide faster WiFi connectivity.
Other than an improved processor and graphics card, the refreshed Illegear Z5 isn’t that much different from its predecessor. Nothing has changed appearance-wise, and in terms of specifications, it still has 8GB of RAM, a 500GB Seagate SSHD, and a 1920 x 1080 anti-glare display, which is now an IPS panel.
The base models of the Illegear Z5 will go for RM4,199 and RM4,999 for the GTX 960M and 970M variants respectively. Buyers can also opt for a TN panel display to get RM100 off. Interestingly, Illegear mentioned that it will only start imposing GST on its products from the middle of the year onwards, so potential buyers will only have to pay for the quoted retail price.
