Let’s be honest: many consumers were worried that the glass back of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will break easily, as glass is essentially less durable than plastic or metal. However, if this “drop” test is any indication of the flagships’ durability, consumers will not have to worry at all.
A video has recently surfaced on the Chinese video site, Youku. In the video, a Galaxy S6 edge was repeatedly dropped thrown on the floor in a very, very violent manner. Be warned: the video will not be pleasant to watch. (Or will it?)
We don’t know just how legitimate this video is, but if it is, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge sure is one very, very durable smartphone. The device’s durability can probably be attributed to the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 that is used on both the front and rear of the S6 edge. The design of the smartphone itself could have played a role as well.
In any case, we would not risk brutalising such an expensive smartphone, even if it is capable of withstanding being smashed repeatedly on a hard surface. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge is said to retail from RM2,599 and RM3,099 respectively and is set to be released on the 2nd of April 2015.
