UPDATE (630PM): The pre-order site for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge by Samsung Malaysia is now live but has yet to take any orders at the moment. That being said, we learned that there might be a deposit of RM 300 involved in the process. Learn more below.
As you might know, 2 April will the official media launch for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in Malaysia. A few hours after the launch event, consumers will then be able to pre-order these devices through Maxis and several other parties (more on that shortly).
If you have been wondering whether to grab Samsung’s latest smartphone, we have just received a reliable tip on the retail prices of both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
According to a reliable source, the new Galaxy S6 will come with a price tag of RM 2,599 while the Galaxy S6 edge will be priced at RM 3,099. This means the Galaxy S6 will cost RM 200 more than the Galaxy S5’s launch price in 2014 while the Galaxy S6 edge will be priced RM 100 more than the Galaxy Note Edge. (UPDATE @ 632pm) This fact will likely change as the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s retail prices mentioned here are said to be inclusive of GST, while the rest of the products in Samsung’s portfolio will see a 6% price increase.
When contacted, representatives from official channels declined to comment on the matter.
Besides that, it turns out that Maxis is not the only place where consumers are able to pre-order the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. According to a leaked invite for selected Galaxy customers, Samsung Malaysia will be opening a special pre-order website on 3 April and all pre-order customers will receive a Samsung Wireless Charger for free. Obviously, the website is still not yet up at the time this post was published.
With less than 48 hours to go before the official launch of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, these prices look likely to be true, though of course we will only find out for sure come launch day.
UPDATE (630PM): It seems that the pre-order website for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge by Samsung Malaysia is now live but has yet to accept any actual pre-orders from consumers, as shown below. Interestingly, the source code of the site revealed that pre-customers might have to provide RM 300 as deposit for the pre-order Galaxy S6 or S6 edge. In addition to that, the payment can be done through PayPal according to the code.
