If you’re a Windows Phone fan, take note. The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has been spotted in SIRIM’s database, suggesting that the new device could very well be launched in Malaysia soon. First unveiled at MWC 2015, the 640 XL is the bigger brother to the Lumia 640.
The Lumia 640 XL is registered under the name RM-1067, which is its model number – not its actual price, mind you. Interestingly, the 640 XL is registered under various companies, including ECS Astar, Zitron Enterprise, and Microsoft Malaysia itself.
Specification wise, the Lumia 640 XL has a rather big 5.7-inch 720p ClearBlack IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired to 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded with a microSD card up to 128GB, and a 3,000mAh battery.
In the camera department, the 640 XL has a 13MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a 5MP front-facing shooter. Other than that, as it is essentially a Lumia smartphone, the 640 XL is running on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim.
However, just because the Lumia 640 XL has appeared in SIRIM’s database, it doesn’t mean a local launch is guaranteed. That being said, early information that we gathered back in MWC 2015 did suggest that the Lumia 640 XL will be launched in Malaysia sometime in April. Regardless, we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
