A while back, we reported that OnePlus’ OxygenOS will supposedly be released today (27 March 2015). However, the company has announced that it has to delay the roll out of the company’s in-house ROM due to certain certification issues.
A Reddit AMA session was held on late last night by OnePlus, where the Chinese company confirmed that the Android 5.0.2-based OxygenOS will not be released on 27 March as it had promised. This is because the OxygenOS ROM is going through a certification process that is taking longer than expected. On the other hand, the other software update the company is working on, the CM12S update will supposedly be available for download on or before 30 March 2015. The company mentions that both these software updates are indeed ready, but if the certification process goes on any longer, we might also see a delay in the release of the CM12S update.
Previously, OnePlus promised that they will be giving away five of its One flagship smartphone for free if they were not able to release OxygenOS on time. The company has already prepared these smartphones for a giveaway, where fans just need to leave a comment in this thread on the OnePlus forum to be in the running; the thread has now passed over 1,200 pages. Do take note though that OnePlus still does not ship to Malaysia, so Malaysian fans might not be eligible for this giveaway.
