Samsung fans who have been complaining about the lack of a removable battery and a microSD card slot on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be happy with the Galaxy S6 Active. As it turns out, this ruggedised flagship might just have the two features its “normal” variants lack. This, however, comes at a few sacrifices.
It’s worth noting that this bit of news comes from a Reddit user who claimed to have had a meeting with a Samsung rep. Although the user has several pictures to prove that he (or she) did have the meeting, it’s wise to be at least a little sceptical.
In any case, the S6 Active is said to have a microSD card slot, a removable battery, a bigger battery capacity, and there will be “buttons on the front,” which suggests that the capacitive buttons will be replaced with physical ones like on the Galaxy S5 Active. Interestingly, the Reddit user mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 “gives us an idea of what the S6 Active will look like.”
While a bigger (and removable) battery is always a welcome addition, there are several features that are omitted from the Galaxy S6 Active, such as the lack of a fingerprint reader and heart rate sensor. Seeing how the S6 Active is most probably targeted at users who are active, the lack of these two features are strange.
As it is with any rumour, take these alleged specifications with a grain of salt. If you would like more information about this rumour, you can read about it here.
