Whether you like it or not, smartwatch is definitely taking the market by storm. Many traditional watch manufacturers are already working on their own version of smartwatches, and Tissot is not going to be left out. The company recently showed off its prototype smartwatch at an annual watch event, Baselworld, that is a little different from the usual smartwatches we’re used to.
Tissot says that they have trademarked the term “smartwatch” years ago hence their smartwatch isn’t exactly like those we’re seeing today. It’s still smart of course, the watch they showed off is a T-Touch Solar Expert. It connects to an outdoor Bluetooth weather station and can provide you with very accurate information about barometric pressure, humidity, temperature, altitude and such.
Apart from that, it also has one of the most useful feature people like myself would appreciate – the ability to pair with small locators to help you locate items such as your phone and wallet. Not only will the locators ring, the watch will also direct you to them using the watch hand as navigation pointers – that actually sounds pretty awesome.
Unfortunately though, the smartwatch is only a prototype at the moment so no information about the pricing has been released. Tissot mentioned that they plan to include NFC in its smartwatch, giving it more features that are not limited only to mobile payments, and should be available by the end of this year.
