Seems like it is a very busy day for Microsoft today as the company kicked off its Windows Hardware Engineering Community conference in Shenzhen, China earlier today. Several key announcements have been revealed at the event today including the availability timeframe for Windows 10, Xiaomi’s Mi 4 Windows 10 test program and this: Lenovo’s first ever Windows Phone.
This is a long time coming indeed since Lenovo was officially introduced as one of the new Windows Phone partners at Mobile World Congress 2014. In fact, the rumour of Lenovo Windows Phone has been flying around even for years before the said announcement at MWC 2014.
Scheduled for launch in mid-2015, Lenovo’s first ever Windows Phone device will be released through China’s largest operator, China Mobile. However, neither Lenovo nor Microsoft have revealed any further information regarding the device.
Hence, it is not known if Lenovo will be releasing the device outside of China or if the company will be extending the same effort through its subsidiary Motorola. Nevertheless, let’s see how good Lenovo first attempt at Windows Phone will be in few months’ time.
