The social network is a great platform to keep the community connected, and to keep us updated on all the things that are happening around us. There’s Twitter, Facebook, and now, say hello to a locally developed app called MyHero. The app provides users with locally relevant information, and is designed to create more awareness in safety and security.
Developed by a local digital media powerhouse, Dino Media, MyHero is not just a typical social media app that allows users to share information such as news, accidents, crime, and lost & found. It also acts as an SOS device with a built-in feature that let users send out a distress call to alert people to assist when there is trouble within an area.
“Our inspiration came about during the loss of a friend in an accident, which led us to think how we can make Malaysia a safer place with smart devices. We carry at least one device with us all the time and we figured that we could leverage on this behaviour to help users reach out for the crowd’s assistance in dire situations.” – Chan Wei Chi, Co-Founder of MyHero.
There are several features within MyHero App – community groups, SOS, report, news feed and monitor.
MyHero has been available since earlier this year on the Google Play Store, and is now available for iOS users as well. You can download the app from the respective stores, or visit the official at http://myhero.asia/ for more information.
