Acer has announced another specification lightweight in the Acer Liquid Jade Z. Unlike the budget Liquid M220 Windows Phone, the Liquid Jade Z runs Android 4.4 KitKat; and an Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been confirmed at some time this year.
The Acer Liquid Jade Z is a 5-inch smartphone with a HD IPS display, it also has a 64-bit 1.5GHz quad-core Mediatek processor with 1GB RAM inside. The internal storage is limited to 8GB, which appears to be a popular number for Acer’s entry level line. Thankfully, it also has a MicroSD card expansion slot to make up for the lack of storage space. It is also LTE capable.
Interestingly, the Liquid Jade Z has a 13MP camera on the back that boasts a f/1.8 aperture lens. This should help low-light performance, but is hard to say whether it matters without knowing more about the camera. Still, that is a reasonably good camera on a budget, which should get consumers’ attention. The front camera is a 5MP shooter, that also features Acer’s Dual Shot mode to allow both cameras to be used at the same time for picture-in-picture effects.
The Acer Liquid Jade Z will be available in select European markets this March for €199 (about RM806). There is no word about international availability yet.
