Xiaomi just updated its official Chinese website and a new teaser has cropped up. It’s a simple picture which shows a matchbox and a “Learn More” dialogue box. We think it’s a portable camera that is likely to be a GoPro rival because the company mentioned that the device will help us view life in different angles and record life’s precious moments.
The new device will be unveiled to the public on 2nd March at 10am, via its website. Bearing the slogan – “Have you ever wanted to go somewhere, but haven’t done so yet?”, the product seems to be a lightweight travel companion. In other words, the company might also be trying to tell us that the size of the device would be similar to that of a matchbox.
If users click on the “Learn More” button, they will be redirected to the new product’s webpage which greets them with travel videos that changes with every refresh of the page. If previous speculation is right, this device might be the company’s very own action cam which features 4K recording and microSD slots for the usual Xiaomi price tag.
The website also seems to be holding a small competition which asks users a few simple questions. The event starts on 26th February till 1st March 2015 with four of this new device given out each day, and five more will be given out in an activity in the Xiaomi forums. However, this activity is only for those who are in China.
The company might be making a device that is really geared up to go head to head with the GoPro. If it gets priced right, it should prove to be an interesting buy for users and photography fans worldwide.
