A typical Intel Atom-based Windows 8.1 tablet in the market does not usually come with a full HD display. After all, such tablet is usually made for the budget segment of the market and having lower resolution display would tone its price tag down.
But not for IPRO Livepad 8.9 though as it is actually equipped with an 8.9-inch WUXGA IPS display. That’s 1920 x 1200 resolution, to be exact and believe it or not: the tablet still costs under RM 1000.
Apart from the high resolution display, the Livepad 8.9 also features a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor as well as 2GB of RAM. The tablet also comes with two storage options: 16GB and 32GB.
For users that requires bigger storage space, they can do so via the tablet’s MicroSD card reader. The Livepad 8.9 also comes with 5-megapixels rear camera, 2-megapixels front camera, and 8000mAh battery that apparently able to deliver up to 12 hours of battery life.
During our quick hands-on with the tablet at its roadshow in Plaza Low Yat yesterday, we also noticed that both front and back of the tablet are covered with glass. The glasses seems to make the tablet look heavy but that’s not the case at all since the tablet actual weight is around 490 grams.
In terms of accessories, we were informed by one of the sales staff that there is only one such product available for Livepad 8.9 at the moment which is the keyboard case. A combination of Bluetooth keyboard, tablet stand, and cover case, it is available separately for RM 199.
As for the Livepad 8.9 itself, the tablet comes with a standard RRP of RM 799 for 16GB version, and RM 899 for 32GB model. However, users are able to obtain the tablet for slightly less at RM 699 and RM 799 respectively through its Plaza Low Yat roadshow which will end this weekend.
