Sony has accidentally (or not) revealed its upcoming Xperia Z4 Tablet. The new tablet first appeared on the company’s Xperia Lounge application before it was swiftly removed. Fortunately, someone managed to catch a screenshot of the device before it was pulled from the app, which confirms the tablet’s existence.
Although we only have a glimpse of the Z4 Tablet, it does look awfully similar to the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact that was unveiled back at IFA 2014. In the rather limited product description of the new slate, it is said to deliver “unrivalled entertainment in a lightweight premium (we assume body),” which should make the Z4 Tablet somewhat similar to the Z3 Tablet Compact, which is touted as a light waterproof tablet.
As far as specifications go, there’s really not much information available other than the screenshot above. What is confirmed, however, is a 2K display on the Z4 Tablet along with “the latest ultra fast processor and industry leading battery performance,” which is vague at best.
Considering the fact that the Z4 Tablet looks very similar to the Z3 Tablet Compact, we won’t be surprised if the former tablet will also be waterproof. Also, since the Z4 Tablet doesn’t have the “compact” moniker, it’s possible that it will be a bigger tablet than the Z3 Tablet Compact, which has an 8-inch display. Of course, these are just merely educated guesses, so do take it with a pinch of salt.
The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet will most probably be unveiled on the 3rd of March 2015 according to the date shown in the screenshot. The new tablet should be making an appearance at MWC 2015.
