Last week, we reported that two new phones from Microsoft have appeared on SIRIM’s database including the Internet-ready Nokia 215 feature phone. Well, it turns out that the phone’s arrival into our market was made official on the same day.
This confirmation was made by Avaxx Corporation, one of Nokia’s long-standing distributor for Malaysia. Avaxx has also announced that the Nokia 215 is priced at RM 139 which is slightly more than the estimated price tag of USD 29 (RM 106) when it was first announced to the world last month.

Built with a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 non-touch colour display, the Nokia 215 is said to be Microsoft’s most affordable Internet-ready phone to date. With a body made from polycarbonate, the phone is also equipped with the ever useful torch light and it also comes pre-installed with a selection of Internet apps including Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Twitter, and Opera Mini.
Together with the support for EGPRS connectivity and MicroSD card of up to 32GB, the Nokia 215 also features a 0.3-megapixels fixed focus camera on its back. Not to forget, it also comes with a removable 1100mAh battery that offers maximum talk time of up to 20 hours as well as 21 days of maximum standby time.
Meanwhile, Avaxx didn’t specifically mentioned in its announcement whether the Nokia 215 for Malaysian market carries dual SIM functionality or otherwise but based on the listing at SIRIM’s database though, that feature should be there. Hence, make sure that the dual SIM functionality exists on your unit if you purchase the Nokia 215 from your favourite phone retailer soon.
