Xiaomi fans take note. The company’s Mi Note has just been launched and clones have started to surface in the market. A Weibo user in China posted about the supposed fake Xiaomi Mi Note that was bought from an unspecified vendor. The fake resembles the Mi Note in many aspects, and the differences are only really noticeable on closer inspection.
The fake Xiaomi phones have only 1GB of RAM, lack audio refinements and are made of plastic instead of glass. When benchmark scores are compared, the original gets an Antutu score of about 46,000, destroying the clone’s score of about 18,000. In terms of appearance, the most notable difference would be the shallow curve in the back panel and the flush plastic panel. Users can refer to the images below to see for themselves.

Users should be careful when making a smartphone purchase. With clones being everywhere, users should be cautious with not just the Mi Note but any other smartphone altogether. The most efficient way to detect fake phones is to do a benchmark test, and that is if the user has the phone to begin with.
Of course, the best way to avoid fakes would be to only buy Xiaomi products from the online store during one of the sales periods. Like the current CNY Special Sale that may still have the Mi Pad in stock.
