A recent report found that Malaysians spend an average of 3.3 hours looking at their smartphones every single day, ranking us third in the global survey. We place just behind US and Thailand who spend 4.7 and 4.2 hours respectively on their smartphones.
In the global survey done by Informate Mobile Intelligence, the firm tracks and measures consumer use of smartphones in 12 countries, including US, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and of course, Malaysia. Among the things that stood out in the study is Americans average rate of monthly data consumption, which is a whopping 20GB.
The top 10 apps used globally, on the other hand, were made up of Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Google apps. It’s worth noting, however, that the participants of the survey were mostly Android users, which would explain why Google apps made the list. it would be interesting to find out the usage habit of iPhone users as well.
Considering how much time we spend on our smartphones, it’s probably a wise decision to set aside some time to spend with our family. Considering that Chinese New Year is just around the corner, it’s the perfect opportunity to do so.
