The PlayStation 4 Remote Play feature is an interesting one that doesn’t really get as much use as it should. While the official feature is only available through the PS Vita, PlayStation TV, and a few Sony Xperia devices, an enterprising developer has found a way to get it on just about any device running on Android.
Originally appearing back in November, the app began to get more notice as the Destiny subreddit began talking about it and how they were able to play the PlayStation 4 exclusive title on a Samsung Galaxy S3. It will also allow remote access over the internet, something that PlayStation’s own feature does not have.
The app also has touchscreen controls, although those are admittedly less than suitable for console gaming. Which is why there is a separate app that will allow PlayStation Dual Shock controllers to be connected, although that requires a rooted device to work.
While to looks like the app will run on just about any Android device, some users have reported that the results are occasionally less than satisfactory. Lag is a huge issue to most users, even over a WiFi connection. The PlayStation 3 Remote Play feature does not work with the app for some reason.
