Been waiting for the WhatsApp voice calling feature? Well, it’s here…sort of. Certain users in India are reporting that they have received a new voice calling feature on their WhatsApp for Android device.
Reddit user, pradnesh07, recently posted several screenshots to show off WhatsApp voice calling feature, and several commenters also shared similar screenshots, claiming that they too can make calls on WhatsApp. The entire thread has since been removed because it contains personal information, but the screenshots are now being circulated around, and it looks pretty much the same as the leaks we’ve seen before on both Android and iOS.
According to the Reddit post, the voice calling feature is still very limited at the moment and you can only make calls to someone who already has the feature.
WhatsApp voice calling feature was first brought to light last MWC by the CEO, Jan Koum. Last month, we saw some leaked screenshots of the voice calling function that was hidden in the source code found on the version of WhatsApp (for Android) that can be downloaded from the company’s website, and it looks like WhatsApp is ready to activate the feature.

Sadly, WhatsApp did not mention anything with regards to this new feature, but since some are already using it, let’s hope that it will be rolled out as soon as possible, and keep your fingers crossed that WhatsApp Web will also be blessed with the function.
