OnePlus has revealed the official name of its upcoming ROM that will power its current and future smartphones. Called OxygenOS, the ROM has been chosen from one fan’s suggestion, after OnePlus opened its ears to the community for ideas to call its new ROM.
As most will remember, OnePlus had been in quite a predicament, software wise. Cyanogen Inc, the company supplying the Cyanogenmod ROM that powers the OnePlus One smartphone, signed a deal with Indian smartphone maker Micromax, whose sub-brand Yu would gain exclusive use of the Cyanogen ROM in India – despite OnePlus entering the Indian market first.
As a result, the Chinese company has had to fast-track its internal plans for building an in-house ROM. Now that it’s gotten a name, when can we actually know more about OxygenOS? In the same blog post, OnePlus stated that it will be releasing more information in just a couple of weeks, 12 February to be exact. We can then expect to know more about OnePlus’ take on Android with OxygenOS, alongside its features and new additions.
