It looks like the Samsung Galaxy J1 that was previously leaked is a real deal afterall, and it will be coming to Malaysia. Samsung Malaysia recently updated its website with a brand now Galaxy J1, a entry-level Android smartphone that features the Korean company’s latest mobile software.
As seen in the leaks, the Galaxy J1 is a low-end Android smartphone. It features a 4.2” TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 800. However, the Galaxy J1 seems to be more of an entry-level device than we previously believed. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor paired with only 512MB of RAM – the leak we saw rumoured the device to feature a quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM.
Other specs includes 4GB of internal storage expandable via microSD up to 128GB, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, HSPA+ connectivity and dual-SIM support. Don’t be deceived by its low-end specs though, Samsung has packed the device with its latest software so it has Palm Selfie on board that lets you take a selfie using a simple hand gesture, and Ultra Power Saving mode for an extended battery life.
Sadly, Samsung did not mention anything with regards to pricing and availability of the Galaxy J1 but hey, if you’re looking into buying a cheap low-end smartphone from Samsung, you can be sure that this is coming to our shores.
