MSI is yet another NVIDIA’s add-in-board partner that has released its take on the new GeForce GTX 960 graphics card into Malaysia but at this moment, only one out of three models is available in our market. That particular card is the MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G which features Twin Frozr V thermal solution.
The solution features two specially designed 10cm fans called Torx with the fan itself is built from a combination of traditional fan blades and dispersion fan blades, positioned one after another. The hybrid design apparently allows up to 19% increase in airflow without additional drag involved.
Through a feature called Zero Frozr, the Torx fans on MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G will automatically deactivated once the GPU temperature is deemed to be low enough in order to allow the card to operate silently. In addition to that, both of the fans are able to operate independently from each other.
MSI has also implemented another feature called AirFlow Control into Twin Frozr V’s heatsink which is designed to direct more airflow to the SuperSU 8mm heat pipes that is connected to a nickel-plated cooper base plate to cool the GTX 960’s GPU. At the same time, MSI also claimed that it has equipped with MIL-STD-810G certified components to guarantee the card’s stability and lifetime.
To complete the package, there’s an illuminated MSI logo at the edge of Twin Frozr V complete with 5 different light mode that can be activated through MSI Gaming App. The same app also allows users to easily switch between three operation modes – Silent, Gaming, and OC – which tweaked the card’s base and boost clock speed from 1127 MHz / 1178 MHz up to 1216 MHz / 1279 MHz accordingly.
Last but not least, the MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G with Twin Frozr V comes standard with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM running at 7010 MHz as well as one dual-link DVI-I port, one HDMI, and three DisplayPort.
