Windows RT, the lighter ARM version of Windows 8, will not be receiving the free Windows 10 update. In fact, it will only be getting and upgrade that provides some of the functionality of Windows 10. Which is not entirely a problem as the operating system was never popular to begin with.
There aren’t many devices currently running Windows RT, with only the Microsoft Surface and Surface 2 being the most well-known. Considering that the product line has been silent for well over a year, and that the Surface Pro 3 was released without a counterpart running on RT, it was assumed that Microsoft had decided to abandon the OS.
The inability to run normal Windows apps killed any use for Windows RT, not to mention the lack of any other apps that would run on the OS. Although it is probably very polite of Microsoft to provide some updates for those still using the platform.
