The OnePlus One, dubbed the “flagship killer” of 2014 will be available for purchase without an invite on the 20th of January. However, there is a catch: the invitation-less sale will only be open for two hours and that varies according to time zones.
OnePlus has gained many fans for its one and only smartphone (soon to change with the upcoming OnePlus Two) because of its price point and specifications. The One is a 5.5-inch smartphone running on the Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM, accompanied by 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras. The One comes in both 16GB and 64GB variants, but does not have a microSD card expansion slot. The 16GB model goes for a $299 (about RM1,065) price tag, while the 64GB model sets you back $349 (about RM1,245).
The OnePlus One was initially only available for purchase through an invite system. The invites were given to customers through their “unique” giveaways and campaigns, as well as allowing people with existing invites to pass one along to a friend. Even if a customer obtained an invite, he or she needed to be in one of the countries OnePlus has an official presence in. Unfortunately, Malaysia is not one of them – not yet, anyway.
If you do happen to be interested in purchasing a OnePlus One, the company does ship to the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, the United States and of course, China.
The sale will start from 7pm-9pm Hong Kong time in Asia, 7pm-9pm GMT in Europe and 7pm-9pm in North America. It should be noted that the invitation-less sales only applies to all the above listed countries.
