Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm, has officially left the technical alpha stage and is now in closed beta. Details about getting invites to the closed beta have also been released, although it seems that gamers from this region will have to wait until the end of the month to find out how to get in on the action.
The closed beta also sees the introduction of ranked play, a new map, and a new hero. Ranked play will allow players to queue individually or as a team to compete against other players of similar skill. Of course, these players must be at least level 30 and own at least 10 heroes before they are allowed to join the league.
Sky Temple is a new three lane map that features neutral temples that will shoot energy beams at opponents’ structures when captured. The temples also have guardians that will drive off heroes who try to control them.
Thrall, leader of the Warcraft Orcs, is also joining the active roster. He has abilities similar to those found in Warcraft 3, with Chain Lightning and Feral Spirit being his main powers. Thrall also has the power to heal himself when casting spells on enemies, which may indicate that he is meant to be played very aggressively.
Players in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines who would like to take part in closed beta will be able to get their codes via Asiasoft’s Heroes of the Storm Beta Key Redemption App. The redemption mechanic will be announced on later date this month via Heroes of the Storm Southeast Asia Facebook Page. With that being said, it appears that there is no app available anywhere yet, and it is likely that it will appear when the beta keys are ready to be distributed.
[Update] Beta Key redemption has opened for Malaysian users. Those interested can sign in to the website and hope to be selected to join the Beta. Asiasoft has not revealed how many keys are available, so speed is of the essence.
