On top of new Android TV, Action Cams and such, Sony also took the curtains off its brand new Walkman ZX2, an expensive high-end music player targeted at audiophiles.
No, it’s not an iPod touch that gained some holiday weight, it is a high-end audio device that packs a punch beneath its aluminium alloy frame. It features an S-Master HX digital amplifier for clearer sound, and DSEE HX tech that can upscale your regular music, making them a whole lot nicer to listen to. It can playback files up to 192kHz/24-bit, MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, AIFF, WAV, ALAC and DSD files.
The Walkman ZX2 has 128GB of built-in memory but if that’s not enough for your huge collection of music, there’s also an microSD slot that lets you store even more music on it. In addition to that, it also runs on Android 4.2, so you can also access the Play Store and download some apps and games though, don’t expect this to perform like a typical smartphone because Sony has made it very clear that it’s an audio-centric device. Other specs include Wi-Fi, NFC one-touch connection to speakers, and a battery that can last 60 hours in a single charge.
The price? The ZX2 costs a whopping US$1,119.99, that’s over RM4,000. Any audiophiles here willing to spend that kind of money on a high-end music player?
