LG has announced the Music Flow WiFi series, an interesting wireless speaker system that allows for modular customisation. This includes a range of WiFi-enabled speakers and sound bars that can operate as either a home theatre system or as individual speakers.
The individual speakers and sound bars are controlled from a mobile app, and can be configured across the same WiFi network. Allowing the user to assign some to a group to act as a living room sound system, while allowing others to play music in another part of the house.
LG is also providing the option to stream music to the Music Flow speakers from a smartphone on the same network, and will even automatically start streaming music if the phone is placed within one foot of a speaker. To provide music, LG is partnering with streaming services like TuneIn Radio and Spotify for content.
Over all, it looks like LG is providing consumers with a speaker that they can simply buy in bulk and worry about how they’ll use it later. Which should provide for less of a headache in putting speakers into a home.
There is no word on availability or pricing yet, but it should be appearing at some time this year.
