As teased, yesterday, Xiaomi took the curtains off its next Redmi smartphone – the Xiaomi Redmi 2, featuring a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor, LTE connectivity, and more.
The Redmi 2 comes with the same display size as its predecessors measuring at 4.7” with a resolution of 1280 x 720 however, the overall size of the device is now slightly more compact at 134 x 67.2 x 9.4mm (the Redmi 1s measures at 137 x 69 x 9.9mm). Beneath that is a brand new 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card slot up to 32GB).
As with the Redmi line, it has dual-SIM support, both able to support 4G connectivity – both TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE so let’s keep our fingers crossed that Xiaomi won’t take that long to bring this device over. Other specs include a slightly larger 2200mAh battery with Quick Charge on board, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, and will be available in a wide variety of colours including white, dark gray, bright yellow, light green and pale pink.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 will go on sale in China on 9 January 2015 for a retail price of 699yuan – that’s about RM400. Visit Xiaomi now to find out more about the Redmi 2.
