Notorious hackers, Lizard Squad, are not having a good start to 2015. The group that claimed responsibility for the Christmas day DDoS attacks on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live have allegedly had two members arrested by the police so far; however, they do not appear to be lying low despite the setbacks.
Supposed Lizard Squad member Vinnie Omari was arrested on 29th December in the UK, although it was not for committing cyber attacks on the gaming networks. Instead, Omari stands accused of stealing from PayPal accounts. He has not been formally charged yet, but police have confiscated computer equipment in order to collect evidence against him. It is not clear how Omari is connected to the hacking group; and Lizard Squad has not acknowledged his arrest as being one of the group.

Another member of the group who goes by the pseudonym ‘ryan’ has also been picked up by Finnish authorities on the new year. This one was acknowledged on Twitter by Lizard Squad, although they did so with their usual bragging.
If both of these hackers are truly connected to Lizard Squad, then it appear that their claims of being untouchable by law enforcement were prematurely made. The hacking group have earned the ire of the internet after a series of hacking attacks that took down console gaming networks for the entire holiday weekend, despite the efforts of internet mogul Kim Dotcom to pay them off.
