In time with the official launch of Windows 10 in Malaysia which took place just few hours ago (more on that later), Microsoft has finally revealed the full pricing of the new operating system for Malaysia. As it turned out, the final prices are actually different from the early information that we received during Windows 10’s global launch two weeks ago.
According to Microsoft Malaysia’s online store which has now been updated to include Windows 10, Windows 10 Home is priced at RM 629.99 while Windows 10 Pro goes for RM 1,099.00. These prices should be applicable for the boxed version at retail stores as well but users might have to fork out additional 6% into those amounts due to GST.
Meanwhile, Windows 10 Home users who find the need to upgrade their operating system to Windows 10 Pro are able to do so via Windows 10 Pro Pack. This can be done from their own PC through Settings > System > About> Change product key or upgrade your edition of Windows > Go to Store, which will then open a new page specifically for Windows 10 Pro Pack.
While the price is actually based on the regional settings that users have select for their machine, the price of Windows 10 Pro Pack for Malaysia is RM 519.99. As a comparison, the Windows Pro Pack costs USD 99.99 (RM 393.63) in United States while the standard Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro are priced at USD 119.99 (RM 472.36) and USD 199.99 (RM 787.30) respectively.
Judging from the prices above, seems like it is wiser to look for the older Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 boxed packages that should still be around at stores and upgrade to Windows 10 through them instead. This way, users should be able to save some good amount of cash.
