It has been rumored that Intel will officially launch its brand new 6th generation Core processors – codenamed Skylake – at the upcoming Gamescom 2015 in Germany later this week but of course, things will only be official once Intel decided to break the news to the world. Nevertheless, it is not surprising that leaks have been popping out here and there but today’s leak brings us even closer to the real thing which come in the form of photos that show the some of the Skylake processors in their retail boxes.
Specifically, the processors that are part of this batch of leak include Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K. According to the photos, the Core i7-6700K is a quad-core octa-thread processor that runs at 4GHz and features 8MB worth of cache. As for Core i5-6600K, it is a non-Hyper Threading quad-core model with a clock speed of 3.5GHz although its total cache is not shown on photo.
Being Skylake processors, both of the processors support dual-channel DDR4 or DDR3L RAM and requires motherboard with the LGA1151 socket. They are also unlocked models, as indicated by the letter K in their name. Not to forget, both processors also features Intel HD Graphics 530 as their integrated GPU.
If these photos together with the persistent rumours that we have been hearing are real (can’t always be too sure), we expect to see these new Skylake processors in retail stores real soon. Then comes the next golden question: how much they will cost? Well, hope we will be able to find out the answer soon enough.
