The OnePlus 2 will officially be launched on 27 July 2015 at 7pm PT (10am, 28 July 2015 for us Malaysians), and if you would like to be one of the first to see it, you may do so because the company will be hosting the “world’s first product launch in virtual reality”.
OnePlus recently announced that the launch event will be available for everyone around the world to stream. It is a VR stream, which means that you will be able to witness the launch like as if you are at the event floors yourself.
“A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship. You’ll be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Eater eggs.” – OnePlus wrote in its forum.
In conjunction with this, OnePlus has even designed its own Cardboard VR headset, which is specially customised for the One. The Cardboard is based on Cardboard 2.0, but OnePlus made some improvements such as using better, stronger and thicker cardboard material, high-quality Velcro, a more compact design that supports devices up to 6” in size, and a special coating to the end product that repels dirt and oils, creating a premium feel that lasts.
We already know that the OnePlus 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor and will sport a USB Type-C port, what else will the company unveil next? Stay tuned for more updates because according to OnePlus’s timeline, the next OnePlus 2 teaser will be happening on 29 June 2015.
