After a long, long wait, the Nexus 6 is finally available in Malaysia officially. First appearing in SIRIM’s database about five months ago, the pure Android smartphone will retail for RM2,199 here. Interestingly, the recently announced Nokia 105 seems to have reached our shores as well.
Before you head out to your local reseller to grab yourself an official unit of the Nexus 6, it’s worth noting that it is only available from DirectD. Of course, other retailers might have the Nexus 6 in stock as well, but it’s very likely those units do not come with official warranty from Brightstar Malaysia.
In any case, if you have an “I’m Member” membership from DirectD, you can purchase the Nexus 6 at a discounted price of RM2,099. Every purchase of the Android smartphone will also come with a tempered glass screen protector and a bumper case for free. If you’re wondering, only the 32GB variant is available in Malaysia, which is a little disappointing for those who were eyeing the 64GB model.
Other than the Nexus 6, we also noticed that the new Nokia 105 has arrived in Malaysia as well. Unlike the former device (which is available exclusively from DirectD), original units of the 105 seem to be available from various retailers. A quick Google search showed that its retail price ranges from about RM69 to RM75, which is slightly cheaper than the US$20 (about RM75) price tag when it was announced.
While it’s always good to see more devices enter the Malaysian market officially, it has been approximately eight months ever since the Nexus 6 was announced. Seeing how rumours of the next Nexus smartphones – yes, there might be two Nexus phones released this year – it might be a tad too late for the Nexus 6 to officially land here.
