Claiming itself as the biggest Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournament in the world, ESL One Cologne 2015 will witness sixteen top teams from all over the world competing for the championship title as well as a total cash prize of USD 250,000 (RM 939,450). Before that could happen though, those teams will first have to go through regional qualifiers and interestingly, one of them will be taking place right here in Malaysia.
But before that, if you wonder how ESL One CS:GO tournament looks like, here’s a taste from ESL One Katowice 2015 grand final between Fnatic and NiP that took place just few months ago:
Scheduled to happen on 18 and 19 July at eCurve in Mutiara Damansara, the Asian offline qualifier for ESL One Cologne 2015 will be a live event in which members of the public are able to watch and enjoy at the mall. The event will feature eight teams from throughout the region which will have to earn their spots through pre-event qualifiers that have been assigned to their countries.
Here is the breakdown of the eight teams according to their origin:
– Oceania: 2 teams
– Malaysia: 1 team
– Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam): 1 team
– East Asia (Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan): 1 team
– China: 1 team
– India: 1 team
– By Application: 1 team
While ESL didn’t specify the prizes that the teams will be able to get their hands on at the Asian offline qualifiers, we do know that the top two teams from the event will qualify to ESL One Cologne 2015 this August. We certainly hope that one of the teams would be from Malaysia.
In case you want to have a shot at ESL One Cologne 2015, the journey begins at the Malaysian online qualifier which will be taking place on this weekend on 20 and 21 June [UPDATE: the Malaysian qualifier has now been moved to 27 June) . We will be discussing more about it in a subsequent article shortly.
