Finally, after reading up on various rumours about the Vivo X5 Pro, the Chinese company has officially taken the wraps off the device. Say hello to a new mid-range smartphone from Vivo with a front camera that can interpolate selfies up to a whopping 32MP.
Design wise, the Vivo X5 Pro has a metal and glass design – sounds familiar. It is surrounded with a rounded aluminium plate, and has a 2.5D glass on both the front and back. It sports a 5.2” Full HD display, and right beneath that, is a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor similar to the one found on the Xiaomi Mi 4i.
Camera wise, there’s a 13MP shooter at the back, and interestingly, an 8MP front camera that can stitch selfies together to give a resolution of up to a whopping 32MP. What do you do with such a high-resolution front-facing camera? Use it as an iris scanner of course. The Vivo X5 Pro has iris-recognition technology on board for an added layer of security.
Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 2300mAh battery, dual-SIM support, LTE connectivity, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with Vivo FunTouch 2.1 OS.
Pricing and availability has not been confirmed, but the device is reported to retail at 2698yuan, that’s about RM1,562.
