Oppo has taken the veil off its latest smartphone in Beijing, the R7 Plus. Just as its name suggests, this is the bigger variant of the Oppo R7 with a few notable upgrades, including a bigger display, a fingerprint sensor, and a much more generous battery capacity.
In terms of specification, the R7 Plus has a large 6-inch 1920 x 1080 AMOLED display. With a pixel density of 367ppi, it’s still a pretty sharp panel. Powering the R7 Plus, however, is still a Snapdragon 615 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. That being said, only present on this variant is a touch-based fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device.
In comparison to the R7’s 2,320mAh battery, the R7 Plus is juiced up by a huge 4,100mAh battery. It also supports Oppo’s VOOC fast charging technology, which makes it that much more attractive to users who are always struggling with battery life.
Rounding out the specifications of the R7 Plus are 32GB of internal storage that is expandable with a microSD card up to 128GB, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter, and ColorOS 2.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop (according to the official site).
Oppo has not announced the availability of the R7 Plus yet, but its price has been confirmed at 2,999 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM1,750. Considering its premium metal construction and rather respectable hardware, this price might just be attractive to consumers; assuming that’s how much it’ll cost when it (if ever) launches here, that is.
