Oppo has finally unveiled the Oppo R7, an upper mid-range Android smartphone from the Chinese company. It’s not a bezel-free smartphone, unfortunately, but it is still features a rather premium build with a metal unibody, and a 5” 2.5D glass at the front.
On the insides, the Oppo R7 features some mid-range hardware such as a 64-bit octa-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 and 16GB of expandable storage. Interestingly, Oppo packed 3GB of RAM to give the device a snappy performance.
Software wise, the Oppo R7 runs on the latest ColorOS version 2.1 that is based on Android 4.4. It is a new ColorOS version, with a design overhaul, and while there’s no Lollipop yet, the new interface is now simplified with flatter icons.
On top of that, Oppo says that its UI is also faster than before with reduced boot time of only 19 seconds, improved app launch speed and improved responsiveness.
Camera wise, the R7 is equipped with a 13MP ISOCell camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus technology that Oppo boasts has the fastest AF speed of 0.1 seconds. Coupled with a fast start of only 0.7 seconds, as well as exclusive image stabilisation algorithm, the device can easily and quickly snap precious moments. The front has an 8MP shooter.
Other specs include LTE connectivity, Dual-SIM support with a very interesting tray that either allows you to use two SIM cards, or one micro SIM and a microSD slot, and 2320mAh non-removable battery with VOOC charger that gives two hours of talktime with just 5 minutes of charge.
The Oppo R7 will be available in either Silver or Gold, for a retail price of 2,499Yuan – that’s slightly less than RM1,500.
