MSI has unveiled a series of new laptops the company dubs Prestige, which are available in two screen sizes: 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models. According to MSI, the Prestige lineup is meant for “business elites and professionals”.
That being said, the Prestige series laptops are pretty well-equipped. Other than a different display size, both the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models share a lot of similar hardware, including an Intel Core i7-4720HQ quad-core processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M or 950M graphics card, 1TB of HDD with an optional SSD up to 256GB, and up to 16GB of RAM.
Rounding out the specification are a FHD 1920 x 1080 display – with an optional 4K display for the 15.6-inch model, an optical disk drive, white backlit keyboard, three USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 ports, and an 802.11ac wireless module. Weighing only 2.3kg and 2.6kg for the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models respectively, these laptops are pretty light as well.
Interestingly, MSI claims that the display of its Prestige laptops come with True Color Technology, which ensures that “each color is delivered with the highest standard precision in detail, guaranteeing excellent color fidelity.” If what MSI claims is true, it should please consumers who are very particular about colour accuracy.
We have been told that the MSI Prestige series laptops will be coming to Malaysia, but no price or availability has been announced yet. However, both models are now available in the US at a retail price of US$1,199 (about RM4,280) and US$1,299 (approximately RM4,640) for the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models respectively. These prices should give us an idea of how much the Prestige laptops will cost once it reaches our shores.
