Oppo has just unveiled the A31 in China, a rather attractive smartphone with a glass back and LTE connectivity. Retailing at 999 yuan (about RM585), don’t expect the A31 to blow you away in terms of specifications. It does, however, have a pretty premium vibe to it.
While the Oppo A31’s glass back definitely gives it a premium appearance, its specifications are a little disappointing. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, and has 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded with a microSD card up to 128GB.
While these specifications are still acceptable for a smartphone at this price point, the real issue here is the A31’s 4.5-inch 854 x 480 display. By today’s standard, this resolution is subpar, although the A31’s front and back glass panel along with its metal frame does win it some points in terms of aesthetic and material choice.
In the camera department, there’s an 8MP rear camera along with a 5MP front-facing shooter, which are nothing out of the ordinary. Rounding out the specifications are a 2,000mAh battery, Android 4.4 KitKat (still?) with ColorOS 2.0 on top, and of course, LTE connectivity.
The Oppo A31 is set to go on sale China on the 17th of April 2015 for 999 yuan. It is available in two colour choices: Ice White and Sapphire Blue. Seeing how both the Oppo Mirror 3 and Oppo R1x are made available in Malaysia, there’s a good chance the A31 will be launched here as well.
