Huawei and Honor devices are now subjected to GST on Vmall.my, Huawei’s sales portal. As expected, most of the devices from these two brands see a 6% increase in price, including the Honor 6, Honor 3C Lite, and even the Huawei Mate 7 Premium.
The Honor 6 was previously sold for only RM999, with the new price being RM1,059. The Huawei Mate 7 Premium also sees a 6% increase in price from RM1,999 to RM2,119. Oddly enough, the Honor 3C Lite’s recommended retail price did not change from RM449, but it’s currently going for RM425 instead of the promotional price of RM399.
Even though these devices are getting a price increase, not all of them are affected. The Honor 4X, for example, will go for RM619 (inclusive of GST) instead of its original asking price of RM699, which is a pleasant surprise. That being said, it’s likely that this is a unique case.
Other manufacturers should be following suit and increase the prices of their respective products from today onwards due to the implementation of GST. It’s worth noting, however, that certain companies such as Oppo will not increase the prices of its devices. Xiaomi will not be increasing the prices of most of its devices as well, except for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, which will go up from RM589 to RM625.
