Apart from revealing several new facts regarding its upcoming Streamyx 1Mbps and UniFi 10Mbps packages, TM has also shed more lights on the new UniFi 30Mbps packages in its response to our recent enquiries. As it turns out, TM has its own reason for quietly launching the trial run and not accepting upgrades from existing customers which became the focus of our inaugural #Dendajar editorial piece yesterday.
First and foremost, the trial run of UniFi 30Mbps at the eight selected areas in Klang Valley will last until 30 June according to Imri Mokhtar, the Executive Vice President of Consumer and SME at TM. The reason why this initial run is done quietly is because TM wanted to gauge the level of user experience and to enable the company “enhance” its offerings before the company moves to the nationwide launch.
As for why the package is only open to new customers, Imri stated that it is done to avoid degradation of experiences for existing customers. Furthermore, he has confirmed that existing customers will be able to seamlessly upgrade to the new UniFi 30Mbps packages once they are officially launched later.
Additionally, Imri has also pointed out that TM does plan to expand the availability of UniFi 30Mbps packages to more areas. However, TM is not yet ready to announce the actual launch date for the new packages at this moment.
For now, the company has advises existing customers that are interested in the new UniFi 30Mbps packages to hold their application first or they could also register their interest at the nearest TMpoint branches and the 100 customer service hotline. TM’s representatives will then contact these customers once the new packages are officially launched for consumers.
In general, these new information seemed to have address most of the issues that we’ve pointed out in our #Dendajar editorial yesterday. Still, we are disappointed that TM has no plans to reduce the monthly fee for its existing broadband packages as pointed in previous report although customers can expect to see new packages and improvements to TM’s existing broadband offerings from time to time.
