If you were hoping to get a brand new Apple Mac device be it a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac or even Mac mini, be prepared to pay 6% extra as Apple has already reflected the GST charges into all of the above-mentioned devices.
Starting immediately, every single variant of Mac devices offered by Apple Malaysia’s online store are now more expensive. The MacBook Air now starts from RM3,391 all the way to RM4,451 with four different variants to pick from.
As for the MacBook Pro, Apple is offering six different MacBook Pros with price ranging from RM4,027 to a whopping RM9,221, all of which sees an increase of 6%.
All six different iMacs also sees a price increase to reflect GST charges, including the 27” iMac with Retina 5K display, which is RM8,479 now – that’s an increase of RM480 compared to the RM7,999 price before GST.
Finally, even the cheapest and most expensive Mac devices – Mac mini and Mac Pro, have been taxed. The most basic Mac mini now starts from RM1,695 to RM3,391 depending on the model you pick, while the Mac Pro are now priced at RM10,281 and RM13,779 depending on the configuration.
As for the brand new MacBook, if that’s the next device in your shopping list, you’ll be happy to hear that the price will still remain at RM4,499 and RM5,499 depending on the configuration you want. Don’t count on it yet though, the device isn’t officially available in Malaysia right now, and Apple might raise the price should they go on sale, so keep your fingers crossed.
This is the second price increase within a month for Apple Mac devices. Just three weeks ago, Apple increased the prices of all of its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in Malaysia due to the weak Malaysian Ringgit currency against US Dollars.
