It’s finally 31 March 2015 and if you’ve been waiting to see what Xiaomi has got to offer in its “Mi Fans Festival”, here they are. The company just announced two new smartphones – an entry-level Android smartphone called Redmi 2A, as well as a special Xiaomi Mi Note for the ladies.
As seen in the rumours, say hello to the Xiaomi Redmi 2A, a budget version of the already very wallet-friendly Redmi 2. It looks almost identical to the Redmi 2 with colourful back covers however, it is much cheaper than before starting from only 499 Yuan – that’s less than RM300.
The Redmi 2A is basically the same as the original Redmi 2. It has the same 4.7″ 720p IPS display that gives a pixel density of 312ppi. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB via microSD slot, dual-SIM support, and 2,200mAh battery on board with fast charge technology. Other specs include the same 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, and LTE connectivity.
So what’s changed? The processor. Instead of using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, the Redmi 2A is powered by a Leadcore L1860 quad-cpre Cortex A7 1.5GHz processor, and has a Mali T628 dual-core GPU on board. The price is actually 599 Yuan (about RM360) however, as a promotion, the device will go on sale on 8 April 2015 for only 499 Yuan.
As for the Xiaomi Mi Note for ladies, say hello to a very pretty looking Mi Note dressed in pink. From the sides to the front to the back and even the bezel, the new Mi Note option is completely covered in pink and even has a matching pink wallpaper. If you or your girlfriend is a fan of pink, this would definitely make you drool.
Specifications wise, everything remains the same as the standard Mi Note. It has a 5.7″ Full HD IPS display, and is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and up to 16GB of internal storage (not expandable). Other specs include 13MP rear camera from Sony, UltraPixel front camera from HTC, and 3000mAh built-in battery.
To go on sale on 8 April 2015, it is also slightly more expensive than the standard Mi Note at 2,499 Yuan (about RM1,492). Don’t be too upset though, the pink Mi Note is a special version, which is why it’ll ship with an equally special box that is also dressed in pink. It will also come with a 5,000mAh slim power bank in the box that sadly, does not share the same shade of colour.
So a very affordable Xiaomi Redmi 2A vs. a pretty-in-pink Mi Note, which device are you more excited about?
