Xiaomi and Li Ning have set paths to collaborate in the effort of making the next generation smart running shoes. As it will be a first for the two Chinese companies, they have previously never made anything of the sort. Nonetheless, the two companies are taking wearables to new heights (or depths) and they promise that the product will be affordable for consumers.
Naturally, Xiaomi will provide the smart chips that will be embedded in the sole of Li Ning’s running shoes. The smart chip allows users to track their progress, distance ran, and calories burned, all through a Xiaomi fitness tracking app. The embedded smart chip might be able to store data for the running session, later synchronising the data with the app once the connected phone is in range.
Xiaomi has makes its own wearables like the Mi Band but now the company is integrating the technology into sports equipment. This product would target those who do not wish to wear any fitness tracking bands as it might be annoying to wear them while running.
No pricing or detailed information has been revealed about the product, nor do we know whether the shoe needs charging. We will see it in due time, once the companies have completed the final product.
