The latest update for the Windows 10 Technical Preview now includes a build of the operating system’s latest browser. The Project Spartan browser was first unveiled at Microsoft’s Windows 10 event back in January and is now available for testing.
Being an Internet Explorer replacement, the new browser will feature a new rendering engine which enhances its performance and gives the users a better browsing experience. It brings along new sharing capabilities and support for inking, where users can write or even type directly on a web page. These annotations can later be shared via email, to social networks or even be clipped to OneNote. Besides that, the browser also offers a new reading list feature and a distraction-free reading view, making the user’s reading material more simple and organised.
Microsoft Windows’ Assistant, Cortana is also supported by the Project Spartan browser – that is if the user is using a US version of the Windows 10 Technical Preview. Microsoft’s AI assistant will be able to do the same functions it does on supported Windows phones, such as taking notes, setting alarms and reminders, or even launch a web search.
Those who are interested in trying out the Project Spartan browser needs to be running the latest version of the Windows 10 Technical Preview – Build 10049, on their PC. Users need to take note that it is still an early build so there are bound to be bugs or missing features.
