The iPhone prices are the same for both U Mobile postpaid and prepaid subscribers. This makes U Mobile the first telco in Malaysia to offer an iPhone with a subsidised price for prepaid users.
For those who are wondering, the truly unlimited data is a real deal however, only for a limited period of time. Sign up during the consumer launch this Friday and you will enjoy truly unlimited data for i60 plan and i90 plan until 31 July 2015. U Mobile’s iPlans are actually very attractive. It comes bundled with plenty of data catered to today’s smartphone user, and still comes with some free talktime and SMS. Should you exceed the limit, U Mobile is also offering the same low pay-per-use call rates at 5sen for every 30 seconds – that’s one of the lowest rates available in the market right now, and yes, it’s applicable for prepaid users too.
The iPhone prices shown above are only valid during the promotion period and while stocks last. After that, U Mobile’s iPhone bundles will be based on the recently revised iPhone prices as shown below.
So, how is U Mobile different from all the other telcos in Malaysia? U Mobile’s iPhone bundle boasts several benefits like lower selling price compared to the official retail price, zero upfront payment, and total contract freedom.
First up, U Mobile is offering the iPhone at a lower price compared with Apple’s retail price. This means that even without a plan subsidy, you can already get the iPhones at a cheaper price.

For those of you who have a credit card, just sign up for U Mobile’s iPhone bundle, pay with your credit card and subscribe to auto debit, and the telco will waive the upfront payment. This means that for example, you will only need to pay RM1,805 to buy a 16GB iPhone 6 on i60 plan. If you don’t have a credit card, and for prepaid subscribers, you will need to pay an upfront payment as shown on the table above. Upfront payment will be rebated over 24 months.
U Mobile also boasts a total contract freedom for its iPhone plans. Each of these plans are tied to a 24 months contract however, should you wish to terminate your contract, you will not be subjected to any penalty. U Mobile however, will require you to refund the phone subsidy price for the number of months you have left on your contract. The example shown below is taken from U Mobile:
Just refund the subsidy price, at the end of the day, the price you pay for the iPhone is still cheaper than the RRP
U Mobile says that even after refunding the subsidy price, the total cost of ownership is still cheaper than its competitors
