Just like clockwork, Apple’s online stores the world over have gone back up, and with it the new products that will be available in each domestic market. For Malaysia, while the Apple Watch will not be available anytime soon, the other product announced just a few hours ago is already listed: the 2015 MacBook and its retail prices are now readily available.
Sporting an Intel Core M processor, the new fanless design allows for an even slimmer chassis than the MacBook Air; at just 13.1mm this laptop is noticeably thinner than the 17.3mm MacBook Air 11. It’s also the first laptop in the world to feature the new USB-C connector, which Apple has incredibly made it into the only input port – it will be selling VGA – USB-C, HDMI – USB-C and DisplayPort – USB-C adaptors alongside the laptop. Also, this MacBook also packs a Retina display, with a resolution of 2304 x 1440.
For the Malaysian market, the MacBook will retail from RM4,499. This will land you the base model, which runs on a 1.1GHz Intel Core M dual-core processor, Intel HD Graphics 5300, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of PCI-e flash storage.
The higher-end configuration, priced at RM5,499, will double the storage and bump the processor to a 1.2GHz Core M dual-core chip…and that’s it. There’s actually an option to configure both variants with a 1.3GHz Core M dual-core processor, but that option currently has no retail price.
The 2015 MacBook is currently not yet available in stock at the Apple Online Store, but it is likely that it will be available about the same time as the international availability on 10 April. All three colour options – Silver, Space Gray and Gold – will be available in Malaysia.
