What was originally thought to be the Lenovo Vibe Z3 Pro turns out to be the Lenovo Vibe Shot; that is, if this rumour is to be believed. Based on the leaked specifications, this upcoming smartphone is mainly focused on its camera capabilities with a design to match.
When the Lenovo Vibe Shot was leaked a few weeks back, it was claimed to be the Vibe Z2 Pro’s successor, which didn’t quite add up due to how different both phones are in terms of design. While the Z2 Pro looks like a conventional smartphone with a metal back, the Vibe Shot looks very much like a compact camera with a dedicated shutter button.
In the camera department, the Vibe Shot is rumoured to feature a 16MP rear camera with a triple-tone LED flash, BSI sensor – which should improve low-light performance – and optical image stabilisation. The leak, however, did not provide any information on the front-facing camera.
Oddly enough, while the camera is quite a capable shooter, other specifications don’t seem to match up. Contrary to the previous leak, the Vibe Shot is now rumoured to have a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor instead of a Snapdragon 810 SoC. It will also have a smaller 5-inch 1080p display rather than a 5.5-inch 2K panel. Rounding up the specifications are 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB, and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
Of course, as this is still just a rumour, we’d just have to wait for an official announcement from Lenovo before we can confirm anything. That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Vibe Shot makes an appearance at MWC 2015.
