Not long after the Meizu MX4 has been launched, rumour of its successor has already started surfacing. According to the rumour, the Meizu MX5 will have an enormous 41MP rear camera, which is quite a rarity when it comes to mobile phones. Nokia fans will definitely remember the Nokia Lumia 1020 which has the same megapixel count, and as it turns out, the 41MP camera will be provided by Nokia.
While this is an exciting news for Nokia fans (or not) this is merely a rumour for now, so take it with a pinch of salt. There really is no concrete proof that the Meizu MX5 will have such a camera, but we can always be optimistic about it. It has been quite some time since a smartphone’s camera with such a high megapixel count has entered the market.
Other rumoured specifications of the Meizu MX5 include a 5.5-inch 2K display, a high-end Mediatek MT6795 octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and a fingerprint sensor. Interestingly, the rumour suggests that the capacitive home button of the MX4 will be retained on the MX5, but in the case of the MX4 Pro, the home button was replaced with a fingerprint sensor. This could indicate that the MX5 will have a fingerprint sensor on its back, but this is merely an educated guess.
If Meizu does intend to ship the MX5 with a 41MP camera, it will surely turn some heads. But at the end of the day, megapixel count is only one of the many factors that makes a good camera.
