LG has a new wearable that it will be unveiling at the upcoming MWC 2015, and if you think it looks awfully familiar, you’re not wrong. Dubbed LG Watch Urbane, it’s basically a G Watch R with an all-metal body that is available in gold and silver finishes.
While the G Watch R was designed to be more rugged and masculine, the LG Watch Urbane is meant to be more sophisticated and elegant, which the company claims will suit both men and women. Other than the all-metal body, the Urbane also has a thinner profile and what looks like a higher quality leather strap than the one on the G Watch R.
In terms of specifications, the LG Watch Urbane doesn’t differ much from the G Watch R. It still has a 1.3-inch Plastic-OLED display and the very same 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. Other notable features include 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, a 410mAh battery, and an IP67 rating.
With the LG Watch Urbane, the company strives to develop wearables that are viewed as fashion accessories rather than gadgets. It has somewhat accomplished this with the G Watch R, but whether or not the more toned-down design of the LG Watch Urbane will win over consumers still remains to be seen.
The LG Watch Urbane will be unveiled at MWC 2015 next month. Considering that it’s marketed as a “luxury” Android Wear device, expect it to cost more than the G Watch R.
